- Decent progressive fare
Quality Originality Value
The original mix is a fairly standard progressive offering. The percussion feels a touch weak and it would have benefited from a crisper kick, but a resonating bassline, some nice effects and a shimmering arpeggio give the track a good deal of drive. The simple but effective male vocal sets this apart from similar fare; it lends an Ashtrax/Gabriel & Dresden feel to ‘The End’ and pulls together all the components into a very well rounded piece.
Division 7 provide the first remix. The track sounds a little less dark than the original but aside from the addition of some extra effects the remix keeps close to the progressive lines of the original. Mikas himself provides the second remix. Suitably called the ‘House remix’, it takes a techier look at ‘The End’ and produces a dubby, minimal sounding piece that makes more subtle use of the vocal and arpeggio.
‘The End EP’ offers some decent progressive fare and there is enough personality about the original for it to stand out in a crowded market. Four releases into their life and Progressive Grooves now have a solid reputation, further cemented by this release, from which to build.
